All versions can be installed on a system at the same time.
All versions expose the same properties, methods and events.
The ActiveX controls are easily
interchangeable in your application without code changes.
The 32-bit controls can run on any 32-bit Windows system: Windows 95, Windows 98, NT 3.51, NT 4.0 and Windows 2000.
The 16-bit OCX (ActiveX) control can run on Windows 3.1 and up. It can be used in VC++ 1.5, VB4-16,
Delphi-16 and other OCX-aware 16-bit development environments.
If you are not sure of which version to use then the S-Type is probably your best choice
to start with.
It does not utilize the MFC support DLLs (MFC42.DLL and MSVCRT.DLL) and so is the easiest
version to redistribute and install. You can always
switch to a D-Type later if you decide to
distribute the support DLLs with your application.
The Webster Pro DLL (E-Type)
is now available. Same functionality, no OLE!
Beginning with V3.0, the
Webster Pro Control is available in three functionally
identical versions. Two are 32-bit ActiveX (OCX) controls and one is a 16-bit ActiveX control.
